Join us for our final night of the Lenten Series on Thursday, April 7th from 6:30-8 pm in the Gathering Space. Our presenter will be Dr. Benjamin Heidgerken, St. Paul Seminary professor of American religious history and innovator of The Cloud of Witnesses touring art collection.
Come build up the Body of Christ in an evening of learning, reflection, discussion, and prayer! As Christians, Christ is our light and our example in all that we do. As Catholics, we recognize the saints as prisms of Christ’s light, reflecting a portion of that light in particular places and times.
The Cloud of Witnesses touring art collection, originating from Nativity of Mary, aims to help Catholic Christians learn about the lives of the saints that pray for us and inspire us to a deeper imitation of Christ. All the saints imitated Christ, yet saints who lived in situations of cultural conflict closer to our own times can provide a unique model for our imitation of Christ today. The saints in the collection—from around the world, lay and religious, young and old, men and women—experienced cultural conflict even as they embraced their faith in Christ. By learning their stories, we can begin to see how Christ may be calling us to act in a world broken by so many divisions.
The evening begins with a presentation by Benjamin Heidgerken (St. Paul Seminary professor of American religious history) and will continue with options for participants to pray, reflect on the lives of the saints in the collection, discuss in small groups, or engage with another presentation on the history of Catholicism, slavery, and racism.
