Pastor's Note: Sunday, August 17th

Dear Parishioners,

Last fall, we conducted a routine walkthrough with our insurance carrier. As any good insurance provider would, they were attentive to potential liability concerns and opportunities for preventative maintenance. When they inspected our Gathering Space, they noted that our carpet was significantly worn. It had seen better days, and most of those days were in the 1990s. It had been walked on more than a downtown sidewalk. It had survived more traffic than the interstate. If we are to be honest with ourselves, it really was not even carpet anymore; it was a history of spills in fabric form. Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. While the agent did not exactly phrase it this way, that is how your pastor received his comments.

Now, fast forward to this past spring, I had a couple of parishioners reach out to me and mention their desire to give a onetime donation to any specific project that the parish needed funding for. In God’s Providence, I told them about our carpeting issue. They wholeheartedly agreed that a replacement would be a welcome improvement —and so, here we are!

This project has been a beautiful reminder for me to trust in God’s Providence and the generosity of His people. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to this couple, who wish to remain anonymous, for their extraordinary kindness. I also want to thank the members of the Knights of Columbus and the Men’s Club, who volunteered to clean our chairs so that their refreshed appearance would complement our new carpet.

It is always deeply edifying to witness your willingness to give, not only from your treasure, but also from your time and talents. May God bless you all abundantly for your generosity and devotion to our parish community.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Bill Duffert
