Protecting Our Parish: Avoiding Scam Emails

Dear Parishioners,
I know that email scammers will sometimes use the change in pastors as an opportunity to send out fraudulent emails in an attempt to collect banking information and/or funds from unsuspecting recipients. This is a practice commonly known as phishing. If you receive a questionable email or text, do not purchase anything or provide any sensitive information, particularly financial information. Please know that I will never send “emergency” or “urgent” messages requesting money, eBay gift cards, Google Play gift cards, iTunes gift cards, or any other monetary requests. Here in Minnesota, summer is a time to enjoy fishing, not a time to be a victim of phishing. God bless you all!

Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Bill Duffert
