A wave in which matter vibrates in the same direction as the energy waves traveling through it.

A measure of the amount of energy in a wave.

 

á      Decibal:

Units used to measure levels of sound intensity.

 

á      Hertz:

Units used to measure the frequency of sound.

 

á      Acoustics:

The qualities that determine the ability of a room or space to reflect sound waves in such a way as to produce distinct hearing..

 

á      Sonar:

A device which uses sound waves to measure distance.

 

á      Music:

Pleasant sound with regular patterns.

 

á      Noise;

Sound with no regular wave pattern.

 

á      Octave;

A musical sequence in which the top note has twice the frequency as the bottom note.
